Obviously I meant " too much sun..." above. Forgot to write "sun".

If you have poor drainage and have just transplanted, you are in a loose-loose situation, if you water them to prevent transplant shock, you drown the roots because of the poor drainage. If you don't water them you get transplant shock. The sun is just an aggravating factor. The poor drainage is the problem.

They are dying in the place where they are now, so I can't imagine that moving stress would be any worse than leaving them and probably better. Make sure you move them to a spot with excellent drainage and keep them watered but not wet. Georgia is famous for its red clay. If you have clay soil, use a raised bed to insure that you have excellent drainage.

Hi again. Rhodyman, I haven't moved them yet but I had a thought. What if I moved them into some large pots temporarily. I could then move the pot to an appropriate location and feel like I could monitor the drainage and watering needs better. At least until the fall weather comes.

Is this a bad idea? If its not a bad idea, should I use potting soil or garden soil made for azaleas?

Rather than go to the trouble and stress on the plants of planting them twice, I would pick a spot that I that I thought was well drained and then use a raised bed to insure it was well drained. They have shallow roots so a raised bed can be about 8" high.
