Buying discounted Azaleas for fall planting. How do I...?

Hi everyone

I have posted here and received help on getting the proper soil mixture for planting Azaleas after my first pair crashed and burned after two seasons.

I like to browse around places like Lowes and Home Depot at the end of the season for discounted plants and today I saw that The Home Depot still had quite a few Azaleas left and they were 50% off. Their largest are now $12.50 and I wanted to pick up two but I wasnt sure how to tell if they were decent enough to buy and plant or just wait until Spring for a larger selection on fresher plants.

Im going to attach a picture and hopefully someone can tell me if the plant looks healthy enough to buy. I dont know if it shows up very well in the picture but there were some brown and dry leaves and this was pretty typical with their whole selection.

I checked and the soil was moist and I didnt see any signs of the plants being root bound but the brown leaves is what I am not sure about.

Thanks everyone
