Way to reset azalea's clock?

riverspots

The yellow, spring blooming azalea I planted several years ago is now blooming (only) in late summer. This is the second year it has done this. Last year was a warm, dry spring and summer. This year it was a wet cool spring and summer. The shrub has an east exposure. It has never been pruned.

Is there some way to get the shrub to revert to blooming in the spring again?
