Azaleas advice

Hi, I just bought this house. In the picture below, are two large azaleas. Between them were some sad looking yews which I've dug up. The space between them is awkward, I hate where the azaleas were planted but in order to balance them and plant anything between them I'd probably only be moving them about 12 inches, and I'm not sure its worth that much effort. I sorta just wanna rip them out and start over with the whole garden. but they're mature, the flowers are beautiful and the deer dont eat them. I hate the way the previous owner of the house sheered them into these odd shapes. If I leave them, will they go back to a more natural look? The space betwen them isn't that large, any young plant would struggle to survive between them. I just dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Maria
