Azalea & Rhododendron

I want a rhodo

Iwant, no I need to have a Rhodo. I love them. I am cleaning out all of my flower and vegie bed. I have room in shade, partial shade and full sun. It gets very HOT during the summers (over 100's several days) we seldom get any freezing days during the winter. Will a Rhodo live here? If so Where, what kind of soil enhancements and what kind of soil do I need (wet or dry). Thanks in Advance.

American Rhododendron Society chapter in Los Altos, CA.

The ARS Monterey Bay chapter meets at the Aptos Firehouse, 6934, Soquel Dr, Aptos, CA on Third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.

The ARS Chapter for Mendocino County meets at Presbyterian Church, 367 Sanderson Way, Fort Bragg, CA on the second Tuesday of the month, Sep through May, 7:30 - 9 pm. Their email is:
