Pothos Sticky Leaves

We just noticed this morning that two of our pothos plants have very sticky leaves. They are two of about a dozen plants in a pool room with windows on three sides and a good deal of sun. The stickiness feels like pine sap or the stickiness you get when a shaken soda can fizzes onto things. I can't see anything wrong such as mites or bugs.

Any thoughts?

Most likely the plants have scale.

Look for small tan ovals on the undersides of the leaves, perhaps along the midvein.
