Azalea cuttings or seeds to swap?

Hi All,

This was my first year in a house with a yard so I immersed myself into gardening and I really fell in love with azaleas when I visited the Beardsley zoo in Connecticut.

I bought three shrubs from Lowes but they were pretty expensive.

I tried to propogate them by trying to start cuttings but no success.

I was wondering if anyone has any Azalea seeds/cuttings to give away.

I grew heirloom cucumbers this year and have seeds to swap in exchange if anyone is interested.

Most azaleas do not come true from seeds. If they are hybrids, the seedlings will not be true and may not amount to much. If they are native azaleas, the seedlings may come true.

Evergreen azaleas are very easy to propagate if you know how. The Azalea Society of America has instructions on their website.

The most common method is by cuttings. The easiest method is by layering.

i used something called rooter pots. worked for me with my azaleas about 75% of the time and about 100% with my rhodos
