Rhododendron: (Honorable Jean Montague)

Some of the lower leaves are turning yellow and falling off. Is this normal for this time of year? Thank you.

I am in Zone 8B, British Columbia.

Yes, cadence, it's normal for the lower, oldest leaves to turn color and drop. 'Evergreen' is a bit of a stretch, leaves will remain on the plant until they are approx 3 yrs and then fall....nothing to worry about. However, they decompose so slowly, they make great hiding places underneath for slugs and weevils if you don't pick them up :)

Hi morz8, thank you for helping me with this. I'm glad there's nothing to worry about. I have been picking up the leaves, simply cause I'm a bit of a neat freak. lol
