That seems odd, with their habit of surface rooting, for the stem to break away from the roots...I've seen them tip from the ground roots and all when newly planted, but not what you describe.

But without a photo or being able to see it, my guess would be that you want to stop any rocking movement and see what happens. I'd stake, and from two opposite sides or even three angles - place the stakes outside the dripline. You'll want something that won't injure bark or stems, legs from pantyhose fit that description and last in the elements about a year.

Thanks for the reply. It does seem odd, especially given its health. It seems as though it's only connected to a small portion of its roots at this point (and for months now), yet it never droops, has put on significant growth, and has set some decent buds.
