pruning leggy dwarf azalea - need help

I need some pruning help. I have a few dwarf azaleas in my backyard. They are so pretty when they bloom. But, they need something and I think it is pruning. The branches are long and leafless expect near the ends so they end up having lots of branches showing. So don't I need to cut them back? Also, I need to wait until next spring to do so right?

Yes, pruning would help. And if you want flowers next year, then wait until after they bloom in the spring to prune.
