non-deciduous cuttings, can they be in a dark garage all winter

I put some rooting pots on two of my azaleas this spring, and completely forgot about them.

today, I remembered they were there, the pots were about a foot off of the ground and didnt want the roots to freeze up if i left them on over the winter

there were a bunch of roots,so i potted up the rooted portion of the plant.

can they stay in a dark unheated garage over the winter to help protect the newer roots system if they are the non-deciduous type?? i have no idea what names of these azaleas are.
