An Easy Way to Root Azaleas!!

i have found a easy way to root these,all you do is bend the lowest limb on the ground,And use some form of wire to anchor it,Pull a lot of dirt over it and in about a month it will take root,I know i have done this so many times with my red,and white azaleas,After about a month pull back the dirt,cut it loose from the main bush and plant,Just thought I would pass this on Thanks Marcella

Thanks, Marcella! This is called layering. It's a great way to propagate azaleas....and other plants, as well!

Marcella, I'm glad you're having such good luck with this - it's a great way to increase your plants or share with friends. But for those who may be trying for the first time who might read this, one month is a very short time for many climates/soil types. The ASA recommends leaving the layered stem attached to the parent plant for a year....

Evergreen azaleas are usually very easy to root any way you try. As Morz8 said, one month is a very short time. Here is the ASA link:
