encore azaleas

| Does anyone know if encore azaleas (ones that bloom in spring, summer and fall) are deer resistant? I live in a heaviy deer populated area, but the deer do not eat my neighbor's azaleas. She does not know what variety they are. I like the encores because of the long blooming times. |

| Result vary depending on what deer have grown accustomed to. Once they start eating a variety, it is added to their preferred eating list. When times are tough for the deer, just about every azalea is on this list. Some people report that deer eat the spring buds off their Encores, but they get the Summer-Fall flush of bloom. Deer love the flower buds on my deciduous azaleas, so that is not a good option. |

| So far, deer near Vidalia, GA are not eating our Encores. We have 5 or 6 varieties that have been planted since May, 2007. |
