If the plants were healthy, they will come back. Just treat them as you would normally. Do not let dry out, but do not keep too wet. Wet feet is the chief killer of azaleas.

I am more concerned about the cats. Azalea leaves are toxic, some more than others.

To protect your cats first, your florists azalea second, you might try Boundary cat repellent sprayed on the outside of your plant containers. I've used it on the 24" planters on my porch to deter spraying cats after my neighbor began buying it to protect her persian carpet from her own persian cat. Very effective; you wouldn't find the odor objectionable yourself.

Take some clean and sharp pruners to your plants to tidy up the chewed stems. Cut TO an outward growing branch or bud, if possible, so that you don't leave little stubs. Plants suffer if cuts aren't made cleanly.

Just for your own personal interest, you might want to do an individual toxicity search on any houseplants or holiday plants that you have. So many can cause problems for pets!

All parts of our pretty azaleas and rhodies are toxic to some degree, including honey made from the nectar!!!
