Cat Attack!

Hello,

I brought in my potted florist azaleas when the nights began to dip below 50 degrees. Unfortunately, my cats are notorious plant biters and have eaten the azaleas right down to the stumps.

There are a few green stems left but after numerous nibblings, the plants are pretty bare. Could this be considered a hard prune and is there a possibility these azaleas will re-leaf?

I thank you for any advice you can give.
