It is possible. They have been stressed considerably. The digging and pruning alone would not be too bad. But to then bud out and be frozen back takes a lot of strength out of the plant. They will have to be babied back to health if they are still alive. Avoid any extremes:

Not too wet or too dry,
Not too much sun or too much shade,
Not too much fertilizer or lousy soil,
Not alkaline or too acid.
Mulch well but not up against the main trunk.

Actually more pruning may help. The less top the roots have to support the better.
