Double Purple Datura Seeds?

My Double Purple Datura ended up producing quite a few pods this year. I'll only keep a small amount of seed, so if anyone would like some, send me an email request, with your address, and I'll mail to you. It's really a very attractive plant, as you can see below.

Zill,
That is just beautiful! Are you going to the March GW Party? If so I'd love to get some seeds from you there!

Zill,

I just bought a house in Buckeye a month ago, Im starting a garden in my backyard, but would love to plant some Double Purple Datura's. Do you think its too late in the season to do it now?

Cheers, Essa

Hello, Essa:
It's certainly not too late to plant and grow in a pot -- and set out next spring. And that might be best, because I've since learned that the Double Purple seeds are hard to germinate. I'd suggest you soak them in hot water overnight before planting. Or perhaps even seeing if you can get germination by starting in a damp paper towel (or damp coffee filter) before potting. That said, if you send me your address, I'll be happy to mail you some seed.
Happy Gardening,
Zill
