Container problems

Hey all,

Here's a pic of container I have out hanging off the balcony in full sun in Phoenix. The middle plant is an African Daisy and around the plant are allysum. They looked great for the first week.
Now the allysum look done and for a long time, the African Daisy buds all turn white and fall off. It's just about to die it seems. I was like, if I'm watering it too much?
These should be totally easy plants to grow...don't know what the problem is. Too much sun but that doesn't make sense since it's only April and these are heat resistent flowers. Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Zach

RE: Container problems

Well this forum isn't very active, but I'll take a shot. Consider the amount of surface of a pot exposed to the sun and multiply that with the hours it's in full sun. My experience is that few plants like being potted in an easy-bake oven. And soil tends to hang on to the heat longer. If it's 80F out, the soil in the pot could be a 100F in a few hours.

Your plants might be drought tolerant, but I wouldn't consider those high heat plants. That's two different things. Bougainvillea is a high heat plant.

I met someone who had great luck with pots and she lined them with baby diapers. I've never tried it, just sounded like it might help.
