Mushroom growing around my trees???

There is a mushroom growing near my trees that I planted two months ago. I've never seen this grow around my house before. Does anyone know what it is, or if it is something that I need to be concerned with?

Not to worry. This is just one of the common mushrooms that grow in our soils. Fungi are active in our soils but only produce the fruiting body (mushroom) in their reproductive phase when the temps and humidity rise. They are an indication that your soil is rich in organic matter - a good thing. Fungi break down decaying organic matter and in the process nutrients are released back into the soil. If it weren't for fungi fallen trees and leaves would pile up and never decompose.

It could also mean your soils are too moist, so be sure to check your irrigation system.

If you happen to see a conk or shelf fungi growing on the base or trunk of a tree it's a different story. That would be a sign that the tree has interior decay and the fungi is just cleaning up the mess.
