ouch Ouch OUCH! I agree PC- that is one wicked price!

We have a sprinkler system in our back yard, so don't have to worry too much about watering. However, our front yard doesn't have a sprinkler system My DH used a little ingenuity and for less than $20 made a wonderful system. He has (2) 10' long sections of PVC pipe, with the sprinkler risers on each end and 1 on the middle- so it is a 20' long sprinkler system. (If you dug a trench for a sprinkler system, this would be similar to you would use). Then he as 2 different types of sprinklers- 3 that spray in a circle and 3 that spray in a half circle. He attaches it to the hose and starts along the side of the house, using the 1/2 circle sprinklers. He then picks up the lightweight 'system' and takes it out to the sidewalk at the front of the house, aims the 1/2 sprinklers towards the house and waters that section of the yard and plants. He moves it to the mid-point of the yard, but to the left side of the yard and changes the 1/2 sprinklers to the full circle sprinklers. He then waters that section, when it is done, pulls it the right side of the yard and waters that section. We use the kitchen timer on the microwave and it works perfectly. He can then take it around the side of the house and store it along the fence.

You could make a similar system, or two, depending on the layout of your yard. Would be lots less expensive....
