I have a patch of spearmint growing on the north side of my shaded patio for 3 years now; it only gets sun late spring thru early fall, and even then only a few hours a day. Not particularly showy, but it's reasonably attractive (light blue flower spikes in summer), the insects leave it alone, and it smells wonderful after watering or rain. I use mine for mint juleps ;)

Will this interfere with the Rosemary that I got in there? I think there are some mints that are more potent. I think that it might take over my whole box. I was also thinking of oregano and other stuff. Let me know.

I wouldn't worry about mint, mine hasn't spread but I wish it would! It's not like kudzu, plus in a planter you can easily control it. But I like your idea of an herb garden even better; most herbs grow easily here and fresh cut herbs are sooo expensive at the grocery store. For that price, plant some herbs instead!
