| Are there any varieties of Monkey Pod trees that will grow in Phoenix. Would be great for the huge canopy. |

| I just did a little search on google on this tree. Quite an amazing tree! It would be awesome to grow one of these giants. I'm not sure though if these can survive here. In one website, it said.. "The monkeypod tree accepts a wide variety of climates, but its natural preference is a tropical, seasonally dry one. The tree can survive a dry period of several months, but will also grow in areas with regular rainfall. Its preferred temperature ranges from 68 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 38 degrees Celsius), and the coldest temperature it will tolerate is about 46 degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees Celsius). | I loved these giants in Hawaii! I had a bag of seeds and tried growing a few. They grew quickly to about 2 feet but died off when I couldn't give them enough sunlight (it was indoors). You can grow them here but they don't do well with our winter nights, so you'd have to be able to bring it indoors or somewhere like a garage, which isn't great because this thing gets enormous. |
