redwood containers

No one seems to have discussed containers for Phoenix, for awhile. I have been making some out of redwood fencing. People say plastic cooks the roots so I didn't want to try that. I am making them about 22 inches square and 14 inches tall. I left about 1/8" spaces between the 5" boards. I think I will line them with that landscape plastic stuff with the bitty holes. I want to plant tomatoes, chard, beets, carrots, corn, squash. Does that sound like the right way to go with containers. Sort of late to ask, but I wouldn't mind input.

I really love all the comments I have read here on so many things. I live in a mobile home park so a real garden is out of the question. Too bad, I would love to grow asparagus.

Thanks
