| If anyone wants bicycle rims to make a compost sifter, let me know. I asked for a couple of rims and got a couple of armfuls of the alloy ones.
They are NOT repairable to use as bicycle rims because one or more of the lugs pulled out, but they are round. I'm using them to make a compost sifter like this one:
So far it's looking good. |

| Neat idea. I don't sift my compost though. Just toss shovelfuls into the garden. Should I sift?? |

| I need lots of sifted compost for a lawn fix-up and it can't use the big bits. Anything that doesn't pass through the mesh goes back in the pile for another year. The guy who built the original trommel gets leaves from the city, and sifts out the trash. If it's just for general garden use, it goes from the shredder to the garden or the shrubs, where I am "composting in situ" (fancy talk for spread it and leave it). |
