Anyone growing Lycium exsertum?

Also known as wolfberry, desert-thorn, boxthorn, thornbush, frutilla.
I planted it from a one-gallon container last fall. THEN, I came across this information found at link at end of this post:
"Lycium exsertum (along with Lycium fremontii) are hosts of the destructive root-rot fungus Phymatotrichum omnivorum, a naturally occurring but erratic disease of crops and some ornamentals. This won't pose a problem if planted with native plants, which are resistant."
My question is "Since I have some non-native cacti and succulents, should I play it safe and take this plant out"? I planted it mainly because it offers birds shelter and berries. I would rather pull the plant now than put established plants at risk.
