Jaboticaba!

If you have a truck, and dont mind the drive to san diego, Ong's nursery has a couple really nice 10ft jaboticabas.. you may want to call first to check if they are still there

I have some 8 year old Jaboticabas in 15 gallon pots that fruit twice a year but have not decided if im going to put those in the ground yet.

willing to sell one? =)

I have a small bonsai jaboticaba but it hasnt fruited and i dunno when it will ever fruit.. im so curious on how they taste!

Here is my Jabo' when I bought it.. since then it has leafed out a bit more.. im thinking about taking it out of the bonsai ceramic pot and putting it in a regular pot, but by looking at it yourself do you think its fruiting size? the trunk is a pretty good size making me believe it was an air layer maybe

Looks like an air layer. Mine fruited in year 6. Ill try to get a pic to you tomorrow. Im actually going by Ong's next week. You say he has a 10 foot Jabo? I can let you know when my fruit are ripe so you can try. Fruit just started to appear 3 days ago.

yeah their jabo's are on the east side of the house..where the lychee and longan trees are

also they have some HUGE cherry of the rio grande trees, a few of them must be over 10ft tall with nice thick trunks.. too bad i only have a jetta, even with the back seats folded down it would have never fit

I want to try starfruit, but can't find them anywhere, any ideas?

for the fruit I know AJ's off ray road and the I-10 sells them, they are expensive though.. typically 3-5 bucks a piece

for the trees try TropicaMango, or mail order

Loquat grows well. Just needs afternoon shade and occasional magnesium feeds. Guavas, White Sapote, and Mangoes do as well, but those three require intensive frost protection (lights, blankets, et al) to prevent them from freezing to the ground.

The biggest problem with growing tropicals out here is the winter frost. If you can overcome that, you're in good shape.

Pretty much anything will grow well here if you take the time and effort to grow plants well.

How did you managa planting lychee in the dry and hot weather of phoenix ,, dont they need high humidity as well as longan and jackfruit ,,
