Local source for good gardening supplies??

Hi! I'm in the far northwest valley, and after dabbling with starts and stops at gardening, I've had a lovely organic (mostly) vegetable garden growing for the last 18 months or so. I'm realizing I need to step up some of my supplies, and have been pretty unhappy with the quality and availability of stuff at Home Depot & Lowes. I'm a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother of five children, and my time is short. So, rather than just hit or miss for what I'm searching for, I thought I'd ask here. Where can I find local a GOOD QUALITY pitchfork (garden fork, compost fork, etc), a soil temp thermometer, and/or a compost thermometer?

I'm not sure if they sell these anywhere locally. I purchased this one from Amazon.com and being an Amazon Prime member two day shipping was free. If you are not an Amazon Prime member you would need to find another small item to purchase to bring your total to $ 25.00 for free standard shipping.

Karen, for the thermometers just get a cheap meat thermometer from the grocery store. That is what I use and it works just fine. Nothing fancy.

I find lots of tools at the Glendale Drive-In flea market. Really. Good luck, hope this helps in your search. Most tools just need to be scrubbed to remove rust, the handle sanded and linseed oil applied. Sometimes my husband will drill a hole and put in a screw to hold the dad blamed metal fork/shovel/tines/whatever to the handle.
