WARNING: Mosquito season is here!

With all the rain we just had, everything in your yard that can hold a tablespoon of water will be a breeding ground for these nasty, disease-carrying pests. Today, I'll be patrolling and emptying anything with water in it and sprinkling Pre-Strike (or Mosquito Dunk) granules wherever necessary. (I even sprinkle on the ground that is frequently watered.)

I remember when there was NO mosquito problem here. Now there are several different ones with one thing in common: biting and sucking blood. West Nile virus, encephalitis and more are not mere nuisances; they can be life-threatening.

Everything you always wanted to know (or not) about the mosquitoes we have here and the dangers they pose. After spending 7 days watching over my GD in the hospital last year, I take these horrid pests seriously.
