Pruning Grapes on an Arched Arbor?

pgde

Hi All:

It just occurred to me that now might be the time to prune my grapes (if not too late). My objective to grow the grapes for shade on the arch and then fruit. They have been in the ground since May 2010. Any suggestions as to how to prune them (or not) would be welcome.

Looking forwards to hearing from you. The white chemical on the ground is zinc and the grapes are on drip irrigation. Unfortunately, last year they got decimated by some kind of insect (the name escapes me now) which I had to use BT and Spinosad to get under control. The insects stripped virtually all my leaves in 2 nights and it took most of last summer to recover. Not this year :-)
