heated pots for Tucson winters??

Has anyone tried making a heated pot? I saw a gorgeous, huge Bougainvillea in La Encantada Mall in Tucson which nicely survived the killer freezes this winter but I think the location was a critical factor. I would like to put the new? dwarf mounding form called 'Rosenka' in a large pot and heat it somehow. Any ideas or experience?

Location is definitely critical.

The frost is most lethal when the plant's leaves are exposed to the clear night sky.

Moving the pot under a roof overhang is often all you need to do. Some Tucson gardeners make a small PVC and frost-cloth lean-to and put a 40W light bulb under it.
