Does Atemoya or Sweetsop (Sugar-apple) fruit here?

I've heard that Annonas cannot fruit or flower because of low humidity. I've heard of trees growing here (they do excellent), but have you heard of any actually fruiting? I saw Phoenix Tropicals website, but there is no recorded flowering. Others have mentioned it, but never directly answered the question. If this is so, then why do we bother growing atemoyas, when we can grow mango instead (not that its better)?

sugar apple might be fine but not so for custard apple. My friend had a decent sized trees (custard apple)but it would never fruit. The few flowers that set in used to just wither away. Finally he chopped down both the trees

Hmmm, if that's so, then I should probably lean towards mango, since they are both soft fruits. Maybe if I visit Santa Barbara during the spring and visit a farmers market, then I could score on some relatively cheap Cherimoyas. Thanks.
