How big is the plant and how old is it? If it has enough size and maturity, it may be OK.

The main stem is about 5 inches to the point where the break occurred. There is a healed scar where the end was broken off

I'd just continue to let it grow and see what happens. If it has branches, they will likely keep growing and branching. It's worth a try.

With indeterminates, it will just keep doing its thing. Don't worry, you'll get plenty of tomatoes.
My Berkley Tie Die lost its top recently but it will put out plenty of suckers to make up for it.

Stick the broken suckers in dirt and they'll take root and make new plants.
