Re-Potting Tomato plants?

I have two tomato plants covered in tomatoes that are suffering because the pots are to small. Is it safe to re-pot them this late in the game? I donÂt want to lose all of those tomatoes and I donÂt want to lose the plants either.

I think you could repot without any problem if the plant is in fact suffering from cramped feet syndrome. But I would really like to see you receive more opinions on this issue. I attached a link to the Tomato Forum if you are interested in posting this subject there for wider discussion.
