Help with Mexican Palo Verde

Hi all, need some help in figuring out what to do with this Mexican Palo Verde. The trunk is 17" in diameter and it's sitting 5 1/2" from the foundation of the house. I was going to trim the branches back to get it off the roof, however it appears that previous owners have done this in the past and I'd like to find a permanent solution.
We are thinking just cut it down. Transplant costs would be prohibitive at this time. We love the tree and wish that it had been planted in a better spot.
Any suggestions or other ideas?
