I have a huge long needled pine that shades most of the ground in my yard. I would like to put a vine in buckets by the tree that could grow up the pine. I can't plant the vine in the ground because of the tree roots. My preferred colors are white, yellow, or blue. Clematis maybe?

I believe that any flowering vine will need sun to produce colorful flowers. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You could grow pandorea (Bower vine) in containers. The problem is that you will end up with dead vines all over the pine tree and that's UGLY!
