Want help with identifying name of plant

I have this plant that I want to move and would like to research best method to do so, but I don't know what the name of it is. The images are on link at end of message. The plant leaves are hard, and the stems/branches have thorns near the base. The leaves do have a sharp tip.

The plant was here when we bought property. I don't know if it was planted or just started to grow there. It has not grown vertically at all but it has had no care other than occasional watering, yet it has lived. It is 3 ft. from a palm tree and 2 feet from our 8 ft wall so it hardly gets any sun. The sun you see in the images is pretty much all the sun it gets. I'm surprised it has lived the 4 years we've lived here with such little care. It is hidden behind a palm tree so I want to move it to a more visible spot. If I know the name of it I can research and determine the ideal spot. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Here is a link that might be useful: Images of unkown plant.
