How to kill burclover?

We have a TON of the stuff growing in our very biodiverse yard! But the burclover seems to take over everything. I was talking to a grass guy a while ago and he said there was something I could spread out whenever I re-seed, but I can't remember what it was (diazan, maybe??). However, I live on an acre (and the burclover is pretty much covering the whole yard!) and need something economical. I want my bermudagrass to stay, but want this and the yellow sorrel (I think) to go. I know pre-emergents are the best, but is there anything I can do right now? And what do I do for such a large area? I tried picking it by hand but that was really just a waste of time because it grows so much and so fast.

Thanks!!

If you subscribe to the "better living through chemistry" idea. you can try some of the Bayer or Spectricide products for Lawns. They will not harm most TURF grasses including Bermuda. However, if you mow-low and water and feed, there aren't too many things that can compete with a happy healthy bermuda lawn. It will take some time but the bermuda will most likley choke out everything else.

Thanks. I assume you can just get that at Home Depot or anywhere (will have to check this weekend). The biggest problem (from a grass perspective) is that we have huge mulberry and other trees that give lots of shade over about half our lot... the rest is a goat pasture and chicken yard (which is the only area that seems to have a strong bermuda base... must be all the fertilizer :). We receive flood irigation, which we love, but isn't the best for a well manicured lawn. That is ok, we like the "rural" look, but would like it a lot better if it were several different types of grass growing and not several different types of weeds. And the burclover is the worst and just seems to cover and choke everything in its path!

It shouldn't harm different turf grasses, but read the labels carefuly about applying around trees. I know that mulberry can be kind of sensitive....but then I'm suprised that anything grows under it with all the shade. I happen to like the Spectracide products and I haven't killed anything with them that I didn't want dead. I get it at LOWES. READ THE LABELS.Their bottles have similar packaging and if displayed side by side...Grass and Weed killer and Lawn Weed killer bottles can look alot alike (at least they do to me)You want the Lawn Weed killer. It kills mainly broad leaf varieties so check the label for what you want to kill. This stuff deactivates on contact with soil, but if you spray too heavy in the drip zone of the tree the stuff might hit surface roots before it deactivates which might be trouble for your tree.

I've found distilled white vinegar an effective treatment. Sprayed on the burclover it dies within 1-3 days. you will need to follow up and reapply to some areas. The grass we have seems to like it and replaces the dead clover quickly.
