We are planning on putting in a pool and have children ages 5-9. I'd like to make a pool fence more attractive and make use out of the additional wall space that a fence will bring to the yard to grow some vines and espaliers if possible. I was thinking of looking into the idea of trying to build our own fence with wooden posts that have wires attached to the posts horizontally so to block the kids out of the area and grow vines or if we will go with the traditional wrought iron fence. We have chickens and wouldn't mind going with a garden/farm look in a medium to small sized backyard. I haven't tried aspaliers yet and imagine anything that would grow on a block wall would not burn on wrought iron but wanted to hear other's ideas on this. Would grapes or other vines do well on a fence and any other ideas on building a dual purpose fence as I am mentioning would also be greatly appreciated. thx much!!
