tree id's and shad tree suggestions

i'm looking to replace some ficus trees that didn't make it through the freezes we had this winter?

i've seen the 2 below in the photos. anyone know what they are?

also, anyone else dumped ficus for something else? what did you go to ?

The tree with the flowers is a Vitex agnus-castus or Chaste Tree.

Tree number two looks like an ash of some kind. You can search for trees (and other plants) online at the link below. All the choices would be appropriate for our location in the low desert. Just click on the 'plants' tab and select by common or botanical name and choose the characteristics you want.
