Butterfly Iris, Fortnight Lily, African Iris

I'm really new to gardening and figuring most of it out through trial and error. (I hate the error part!) Early this year I planted a Butterfly Iris - Moraea (Dietes) Iridioides (AKA Fortnight Lily or African Iris). It has yet to bloom. It has a full east exposure, not getting any shade until the late afternoon. I noticed the tips of the plants were brown so I increased the watering. I have it on my drip system receiving a total of 1 1/2 gallons of water a day. I increased this by soaking the plant with a gallon of water every 1 - 2 days. The leaves seem to be doing better.

My problem is I can't get it to bloom. I see the ones at the nurserys are blooming. Does anyone have any tips to on how to help this plant bloom. I definitely bought it for the foliage, but I would love to have the flowers.

Thanks!!
