Are they damaging the plants? If not, don't worry.

The best organic bug controls are lizards, geckos and birds. And other bugs. If you kill off the food supply, they will never be an effective control.

I have similar bugs. They are going to show up if it's moist regardless of when you water.

I've never noticed any damage from them.

we put out shelters for toads and encourage them to stay. water for birds..

I agree with lazygardens with keeping things organic and in a natural balance.

We have a large vegetable garden and many other plants in our desert back yard. We use diatenacious earth (sp ?), still have bugs but also have hundreds of lizards. White flies seems to be the biggest problem, and sparrows in the tomatoes. Most of the other bugs, exept a leaf cutting bee do not seem to be a big problem.

If the bugs are bugging you try using dish soap mixed with water and spraying them real good. Do it real early in the morning, dish soap will burn the leaves in the hot sun. I had squash bugs really bad on the zuc's and it got rid of them. You will need to spray a couple of times. 1 tbl sp. per gal of water in sprayer and DON'T shake it.

Why don't you just try watering at a different time? The plants don't need the water as desperately when the hot sun isn't shining on them anyway. My garden plants always perk back up once they get in the evening shade.
