I'm in Vail, and I'm trying some of the pines that they grow so well in PHX. They do well with the wind, I think, since they don't have the leaves that get shredded. Not the fastest growing, though.

How much space do you have?

Thanks for your feedback, I hadn't given much thought to pine. We have just under an acre. .96 it's sloped and has some views I would like to cover up.

Our neighbors in town had a row of Arizona cypress. I don't know how they do in the wind out here, but they shot up fast and made a nice wall of shade for their RV.

You have room for just about anything you want, so you can be a lot pickier. I have seen some huge sycamores and eucalytus, but I don't know how fast they grow . . . do you want something native? Do you want it blooming?

We're natives ourselves but really don't appreciate native plants. Are their good nurseries in the Vail area to go to?
