Hi,

Was wondering if anyone in Arizona has tried growing the Handbasin Oak (Quercus tarahumara). It has huge leaves and is found in Sonora and Chihuahua states in Mexico.

Thanks.

Thanks Flowers for responding!!
We need to spread word of the awesome oaks in Mexico that should be introduced to gardeners eager to try new plants.

Maybe someone will be interested enough to try some at a specialist nursery.

If you ever see Q. tarahumara, please give me a shout.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Just checking if anyone has seen this oak in the past year.

I would love to grow it.

It takes extremely acidic soil ... apparently it's still at the grown only in botanic garden stage.
