I have 4 Adenium Obesum that are outdoor plants. They spend the winter in my garage and come out in the spring. I repot every spring. Two of my plants are in large pots so I raise them up about 1 inch to expose more of the caudex. I inspect the roots and replace some, but not all of the soil. My other 2 plants are smaller so I repot to give them more room. Soon they will go into big pots and be treated as the two larger ones are.

Flash48, thank you for the reply. I think I asked the wrong question. I don't repot mine every spring I change the potting mix and place them in the same pot. I was wondering if doing this was really necessary here in AZ. I have learned a lot from the adenium forum and it looks like I'm doing the same as you do. I also bring them inside in the winter and don't water until I take them out in the spring. I guess I was trying to find short cuts lol. You have answered my question thanks again.

From what I have read, Desert Rose likes room to develop the caudex so I use pots that are a couple of sizes oversize. They like fast draining soil so I use cactus mix from the big box home improvement stores and mix it approximately 2/3 cactus soil and 1/3 pumice to increase drainage. I don't see a need to replace the soil every year. During the growing period, I fertilize with a slow release fertilizer to provide the nutrients to support growth and blooms.
