Good news, I went to Baker's on 40th St and Osborne, and they had quite a lot of bamboo. I got a 5 gal of Buddah's Belly (they have a planted stand of them that is over 20 feet high) for $39, but everything is 10% off in August. I got a pot with about 8 culms and a few new shoots, plant is about 3 ft high. They had larger pots of golden bamboo, some beautiful black bamboo, giant timber, and some nice Alphonse Karr variety. The larger pots ranged from $80 to $150 or so, one of the few nurseries that had any knowledge of bamboo. They had some small 5 gal Giant Timber pots for $39, but not too many culms in each pot.

Another follow up, Lowes has 10 gal Buddah's Belly about 10 ft high for $49, and HD just got in some really nice black bamboo (running), golden goddess, and some giant timber, which I snapped up for $29
