Anyone know about Rocky Ford Melon

I am down to two Rocky Ford Melon vines/plants. I planted a seed packet and got about 10 plants, but 8 died when I transplanted them into the ground. The two left are each now about 8-12 feet long each with one or two flowers on them. Anyone know how to care for them to get great melons.

They have surprisingly survived the heat when even my zucchini died. They are in the ground and the vine has spread over the gravel in the yard. I guess it could handle touching the rocks which are probably well over

120 degrees in the sun. Any tips on surviving monsoon season and getting the best melons? How do you get it to set fruit?

Don't know much about the Rocky Ford variety but our melons, honeydew, cantaloupe and such have pretty deep green foliage and are huge, but not a single flower or bud, driving me nuts.

I left the melons alone for a week. Today, I found 4 melons on one plant! Don't know how to care for them or get them bigger so if anyone knows, let me know. I just hope they don't get big, only to have some insects or birds attacking them.

The leaves are just sprawled over rocks and so is the fruit. I heard some people trellis them on a fence. Don't know if that's what I should do. What happens with the monsoon rains?
