Help ID this cactus!

Posted by steenbean18 AZ (My Page) on

This little guy was the first cactus we ever purchased. Being new to the AZ and new to gardening, we didn't do a great job getting his common or scientific name. We bought him at Desert Winds nursery and at the time he was just 2 stalks. A year later, he has 5 new stalks branching from his base and the top of one of the main stalks is splitting into multiple branches. Recognize him?

Neat! It looks like it's happy. It looks like a Trichocereus to me, probably Trichocereus spachianus which is popularly sold around the Phoenix area. You can look online or in some books to see if you think that's it.

Lookin' good!
Take care,
