help identifying trees

In Phoenix...This is the tree in my neighbor's yard that has 8 inch brown seed pods that seed our entire neighborhood. They grow by the side of our driveway and I really need to know how to kill them, we've just been cutting them off and now some of the trunks are as thick as broom handles or thicker.

Secondly, what is this fruit? producing tree in our back yard?

#1 is a seedling mesquite ... thoroughly spraying it with glyphosate (herbicide) should kill it. The trick with these is to yank them out when they are TINY.

#2 looks like pecans. When they ripen and fall off the tree, you will know. (great desert tree, BTW)

I think the first tree could be White Popinac or White Lead Tree (Leucaena leucocephala). Its a thornless tree with creamy puffball flowers and an almost fern-like appearance to the leaves. It grows quickly and produces flat brown seed pods. In many places its considered invasive.
