Cereus and light

I have a small cereus peruvianus that I started from a cutting about 6 mos. ago, It's in a pot, and is about foot high. It has already grown two arms from the base that are almost as tall as the original cutting, so I guess it has rooted well. Now I need to decide if I'm going to keep it in a pot, or take a chance on planting it in the ground. I have attached a photo - hope it comes through.

My question concerns its current location, in a pot on the patio in front of my house. Because of the lack of street lighting, Mesa block watch recommended that we (all the neighbors) keep our front lights on all night. I know for many cacti and succulents, the amount of light received can affect their growing and blooming cycles. Does anyone know if a porch light on all night will affect the cereus?

I'm very glad to have found this forum - I have found a lot of good suggestions for container gardening, which is what I am focusing on for the time being.
