Can I grow Ivy in my climate?

I grew up in Northern California and while I love AZ.. I miss lots of green! I had lots of Ivy in my backyard when I was a kid.

I am thinking of the big dark leafy kind that creeps up vines.

I would plant it in the back of the house where it gets morning sun and shade in the afternoon.

But not sure if it would even survive here. I hardly see Ivy in Arizona.

It will grow here, and if you call spome of the larger n8urseries they probably have it, but it has several drawbacks:

must have afternoon shade
clings by glued-on rootlets that wreck stucco
Uses a lot of water
