Bush green beans

Here is a question for the best of you. I plant bush green beans the last of February and get a great crop, Yet as we move closer into summer, many of the beans that I pick at a later time in the season are beautiful on the outside with a nice long outer cover but the inside is either hollow or the beans are small to the point that they are stunted and or deformed. Any ideas other than the heat that may be causing this?
